I saw this fun pregnancy survey on someone's blog and I thought it would be fun to fill out. It will be a good way to help me remember and also to celebrate Andrew's upcoming six month birthday.
Here it goes..
How long were you pregnant? 36 weeks 2 days. Almost made it to 36 weeks, 3 days.
Did you get the dreaded black line on your tummy? Kind of, sort of. I had a faint line but it didn't show up until after. Or maybe I just didn't notice until then.
Did you get any stretch marks? No, I was very lucky. I honestly started rubbing that coco butter lotion the week I found out I was pregnant. I also drank a ton of water which I think helped a lot.
Did your belly button pop out? It flattened out. Very strange.. and I didn't like it.
How much weight did you gain? 17 pounds.
How much left do you have to lose? 3 pounds. I'm pretty sure it's not going away either because I've been stuck there forever. Maybe I should work out and do something about it.. Maybe..
What was the worst thing about labor? The end.. Definitely. My epidural had worn off about 3 hours before Andrew was born. Since I was close to the end, they didn't do anything about it. I kept telling the nurses I could feel everything and started moving my legs to show them, they told me that was a good thing! It truly did help with knowing when to push but I didn't enjoy it at the time.
What was the best thing about labor? Obviously, seeing Andrew for the first time. Once he came out, it happened really fast and I didn't know. Seeing him for the first time is like a permanent picture etched in my head. I know it's super cheesy but it really does make everything worth it.
How long did you push? 1 1/2 hours. That was something I wasn't prepared for. You always see it on TV and it's like a 5 minute process, I assumed that is what it would be like. The good thing is, I hear it's usually much quicker with future children.
Were you embarrassed about being all out there? Not at all. I think after 18 of being in labor, any and all modesty go flying out the window. You want that baby OUT!
Did anything funny happy in labor? Not really funny, but through out the day the nurses keep asking me if I wanted anything. I told them I couldn't wait to have a diet come after he was here. Literally, he was here for maybe, maybe 3 minutes and my nurse came running in with a diet coke. I had my drink before I even held Andrew!
Also, I kept telling Sam it was his turn to do something. He didn't ever take me up on that offerj, though.
How was your recovery? Honestly, it was very easy which I was/am thankful for. I was sore for a couple of days but not really a big deal. At the time, while in the hospital, I was convinced me and Sam would be divorced by the time we made it home. During the night, I had a really hard time getting out of the bed to get Andrew, diapers and all that good stuff and Sam would be dead asleep. Snoring. I kept throwing pacifiers at him to try and get him to wake up, it didn't work. Once we got him back in his bed at home he was a much better help!
Did Andrew look like you were expecting him to? Yes and no. I pictured him with dark hair but his actual looks weren't what I was expected. I was expecting a mini Sam and he actually looked much more McGuire-ish than I ever would have though. Of course, that lasted all of one week and I did end up with my mini Sam :)
How was your hospital stay? I'll start out by staying, the nurses I had were all wonderful! While in labor, I ended up going through 4 shift changes so I had plenty of nurses. You know they were good when their top priority was getting me that diet coke! The recovery nurses were great as well but I was so over the hospital at that point.
Also, I was there entirely too long. I checked in Tuesday night for my induction but since I tested positive for group b AND because I technically didn't make it to the recovery room until after midnight, I had to stay 2 nights, which meant leaving Saturday. I was going stir crazy in there.
So, that's all about per/after Andrew! It's So crazy to me that this was all happening six months ago!
