Pregnancy survey

I saw this fun pregnancy survey on someone's blog and I thought it would be fun to fill out. It will be a good way to help me remember and also to celebrate Andrew's upcoming six month birthday.

Here it goes..

How long were you pregnant? 36 weeks 2 days. Almost made it to 36 weeks, 3 days.

Did you get the dreaded black line on your tummy? Kind of, sort of. I had a faint line but it didn't show up until after. Or maybe I just didn't notice until then.

Did you get any stretch marks? No, I was very lucky. I honestly started rubbing that coco butter lotion the week I found out I was pregnant.  I also drank a ton of water which I think helped a lot.

Did your belly button pop out? It flattened out. Very strange.. and I didn't like it.

How much weight did you gain? 17 pounds.

How much left do you have to lose? 3 pounds. I'm pretty sure it's not going away either because I've been stuck there forever. Maybe I should work out and do something about it.. Maybe..

What was the worst thing about labor? The end.. Definitely. My epidural had worn off about 3 hours before Andrew was born. Since I was close to the end, they didn't do anything about it. I kept telling the nurses I could feel everything and started moving my legs to show them, they told me that was a good thing! It truly did help with knowing when to push but I didn't enjoy it at the time.

What was the best thing about labor? Obviously, seeing Andrew for the first time. Once he came out, it happened really fast and I didn't know. Seeing him for the first time is like a permanent picture etched in my head. I know it's super cheesy but it really does make everything worth it.

How long did you push? 1 1/2 hours. That was something I wasn't prepared for. You always see it on TV  and it's like a 5 minute process, I assumed that is what it would be like. The good thing is, I hear it's usually much quicker with future children.

Were you embarrassed about being all out there? Not at all. I think after 18 of being in labor, any and all modesty go flying out the window.  You want that baby OUT!

Did anything funny happy in labor? Not really funny, but through out the day the nurses keep asking me if I wanted anything. I told them I couldn't wait to have a diet come after he was here. Literally, he was here for maybe, maybe 3 minutes and my nurse came running in with a diet coke. I had my drink before I even held Andrew!

Also, I kept telling Sam it was his turn to do something. He didn't ever take me up on that offerj, though.

How was your recovery? Honestly, it was very easy which I was/am thankful for. I was sore for a couple of days but not really a big deal. At the time, while in the hospital, I was convinced me and Sam would be divorced by the time we made it home. During the night, I had a really hard time getting out of the bed to get Andrew, diapers and all that good stuff and Sam would be dead asleep. Snoring.  I kept throwing pacifiers at him to try and get him to wake up, it didn't work. Once we got him back in his bed at home he was a much better help!

Did Andrew look like you were expecting him to? Yes and no. I pictured him with dark hair but his actual looks weren't what I was expected. I was expecting a mini Sam and he actually looked much more McGuire-ish than I ever would have though. Of course, that lasted all of one week and I did end up with my mini Sam :)

How was your hospital stay? I'll start out by staying, the nurses I had were all wonderful! While in labor, I ended up going through 4 shift changes so I had plenty of nurses. You know they were good when their top priority was getting me that diet coke! The recovery nurses were great as well but I was so over the hospital at that point.
Also, I was there entirely too long. I checked in Tuesday night for my induction but since I tested positive for group b AND because I technically didn't make it to the recovery room until after midnight, I had to stay 2 nights, which meant leaving Saturday. I was going stir crazy in there.

So, that's all about per/after Andrew! It's So crazy to me that this was all happening six months ago!

Catching up..

I figure I better do a quick update before I'm writing Andrew's six month update! March has been a busy, busy month and it's really hard to believe that it's almost over. Let's see what we have been up too..

Andrew made his third trip down to the beach for spring break. This was actually his first time to go out to the beach and get in the pool. He did great! He enjoyed watching the waves and sitting in the little pool we had on the beach. He also tested out the big pool a couple of times. He did okay, I don't think he really knew what to think/do but it was a good introduction for him. I can't wait to see how he does this summer when he is a little bigger!

Testing out the pool

Then the pool..

Also, we have some big news we have been working on! Sam and I are building a house! We bought a lot at the beginning of the month and are working on house plans right now. We are hoping on having everything move in ready by early fall.

Another big event, was our little family grew a bit!  Sam and I had been talking about getting another dog.  We thought it could really help Ella with her separation anxiety, especially with another move coming up.  We went back and forth and one dad my grandmother called (she works at the vet's clinic) and told me she had a lady that had a female shih tzu puppy she was giving away.  Decision made!

Meet Cinder

Cinder really has been a fantastic puppy so far.  She is 100 times better than Ella ever was as a puppy (and now, haha!) She does great being left in her pen, doing pretty good potty training and is just pretty low maintenance in general.  Finally, after about 3 weeks, Ella is staring to warm up to her and is acknowledging her, even playing with her a good bit now.

Now for some random Andrew tid bits:

Andrew has started sitting up by himself! He will only do it if he is in the mood and can maintain it for about 5-10 seconds but I say it still counts. I'm trying to let him get a lot of practice in but he still gets a little too excited and kicks back.

I think he has a tooth coming in.  My mom spotted the little white spot and sure enough, it's there.  I don't really feel anything yet.  I would like to think this might be to blame for his sleeping schedule right now.  He was doing GREAT and sleeping in to 6 every morning.  This week has been a nightmare.  I'm talking up for the day at 4:30 in the morning.  I know he isn't a bad sleeper and people have it so much worse, but it's just such a tease when he has been doing such a good job.

Now to finish up.. just because I think he is so cute!

Five Months!

I know, I have majorly slacked off with the blog.  I considered just dropping it, but I still think it will be fun to go back and look at, so I'm still at it.. for now.

Anyways, Andrew, you are five months old now!  I feel like you are 0% baby now and 100%  big boy!

You weigh about 14 pounds.  I have weighed you on a couple of different home scales and that is what I keep getting so we will go with that!

We just moved you up to size 3 diapers.  Actually, the exact same size your cousin Charlotte is in right now.. you must be turning into a chunky boy!

You wear mostly 3-6 in clothes but still have a handful of 3 months that you fit into.  You must have short legs because your shorts are always capris or pants on you.

Your sleep has been all over this month.  I have no idea what happened to you, but you went through a good 2 or 3 weeks of waking up randomly during the night.  You never have been a bad sleeper, but it was hard to go through when you were sleeping through the night.  Right now, you seem to be doing pretty good.  I don't feel like you have really got yourself back on a schedule but you seem to be sleeping until 5 at least.

You have been fighting naps with everything you have in you lately.  Usually, you eat and then fall asleep that way.  If I miss that window, all hell breaks lose. I've noticed that you sleep well on the go so fortunately, we don't deal with that while we are out in public.  You still take several naps a day, usually only going 2 hours max between them.

We started baby food right at four months.  I don't think you had a true interest so we backed off for a couple of weeks.  We started back about 2 weeks ago and it seems like you know what you are doing now.  The only vegetable you will eat is sweet potatoes.  You really like apples, pears, bananas, and fruit mixes.

You have become very interested in toys.  Mostly just holding onto them and bringing them to your mouth.  You love, love, love toys you can hold on your own and fit in your mouth. You are also just as entertained by grabbing your clothes or a wash cloth and trying to eat that.

Your hair is finally coming back in! It's blonde!  I always pictured a little boy with dark hair, especially once you came out with dark hair but right now, I'm loving my blond hair, blue eye little boy!

You sit well assisted, but are definitely not ready to do it on your own.

I love you my sweet, sweet boy!
